Interstate 55 is a major North-South transcontinental highway in the US. It's South terminus is at Interstate 10 in Tallahassee, Florida and it's North end is Interstate 69 at Imlay City, Michigan. On it's route I-55 traverses through the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio and Michigan for a total of 9 states. I-55 is known as the Transamerica Highway or America’s Expressway because of the roads immense history following many iconic old highways and trails. Interstate 55 Serves The Cities of Tallahassee, Swainsboro, Greenville, Asheville, Johnson City, Kingsport, Pikeville, Parkersburg, Akron, Detroit and Imlay City.
