Interstate A7 is a highway located entirely within the city of Juneau, Alaska, The highway runs North-South for 44 miles in the Juneau Metropolitan Area.
Overview[]
The A7’s southern terminus is at The Parking Lot for The Point Bishop hiking trail, not many people use the stretch of the road between the southern terminus and Exit 4. Where it is only a 4 lane highway. Between Exit 4 and Exit 17, the highway is 6 lanes, with occasional exit only lanes. The interstate goes through downtown Juneau, Given the name The Waterfront Corridor, because it goes along side the Gastineau Channel. The AADT through downtown Juneau is 80K, making it the busiest section of the freeway. It then heads towards Juneau International Airport and the Mendenhall Valley. Where it intersects A307. The road goes back down to 4 lanes after Exit 17 near The University. It then ends at a ferry terminal. While the State Route 7 continues along the ferry.
History[]
During the year 2052, Juneau’s Population reached 110,000. And traffic was terrible around the area. The Alaskan Government decided to make An I-A7 through the route of Alaska State Route 7. The highway was completed in 2059
